Englishman Justin Rose will know that he faces an important few months in his bid to finish top of the European Tour money list for the second time in his career. Rose is sat just behind world number one Rory McIlroy in the money list and the battle could go all the way in the Race to Dubai with six money events remaining.

While Rose’s Order of Merit triumph in 2007 came somewhat out of the blue, it would be a different story this time around. The Englishman has been sensational this year; winning the WGC-Cadillac Championship, top-ten finishes at the Masters and the PGA Championship, before playing an instrumental role in Europe’s thrilling Ryder Cup victory at Medinah. The latest golf odds suggests it will be a battle between him and the Northern Irishman for the lucrative title.

''It would come from what has been a bit of a miraculous year, and a year when I seemed to play well in the right tournaments. It would be a lot more meaningful based on there's been a lot of hard work that's gone on between 2007 and now,” revealed Rose.

''I am a lot more aware of why I'm playing well, and a lot more sustainable into the future. And to be No. 1 of any tour, especially the European Tour, that's a huge goal and that would be a huge honour to be honest.”

Many think it’s only a matter of time before Rose wins a major, and next year could be a big one in the career of the 32-year old who burst on the scene back in 1998 at the Open. It’s been an up and down ride since then, however, but Rose has shown his class over the years.

The world number five has shown he can mix it consistently with the best players in the world, and not many people would begrudge Rose if he did finish the year winning the Race to Dubai.
